Sometimes, the subject is difficult to locate. The client may have tried several addresses with an attempted process service. It may take interviews, phone calls, pretexts, social media, etc. The client can set a ceiling amount that will not be exceeded without the clients approval.
Our investigator conducts a “diligent” search, The search steps are documented throughout the search process. A written report is provided to the client which can be used as proof that a “diligent” search was conducted. If required, the investigator can provide testimony to the court explaining the steps taken, the results and opinion.
Contrary to popular belief, there is NO national database available. Each federal, state and county jurisdiction has their own set of rules when it comes to criminal records. There is no requirement to submit criminal records to a state or federal repository. Some county jurisdictions do not have online databases; they make records only available by a personal search of their database located in their county. The law enforcement database NCIC is not available to the public.
